Business Opportunities in Curbing

People all around the globe are turning on to concrete curbing as a very real and profitable home based business. The equipment is not expensive relative to the kind of profits that can be realized operating a curbing business. A curbing business can be managed by a single person or a small crew, depending on the size of the project.

In today's economic environment, becoming self-employed is a very real solution to the uncertainty of the current job market. If you are tired of generating profits for someone else and not being paid what you are worth, starting a decorative concrete edging business may be just the answer that you have been looking for.  Thousands of people all over the world have fired their bosses and started down the road to financial freedom with their own curbing business. And even so, the world has barely become familiar with continuous concrete curbing. It's been around for decades, but only recently has exploded into one of the fastest growing industries in the small business sector.

Most of the companies that manufacture concrete curbing machinery offer training and support to their customers. A few go beyond that and offer marketing packages and materials to help a contractor to attract new business.

Here are some things to consider when entering the curbing business and choosing a curbing machine:

Make sure the equipment you purchase has at least a one year warranty, a two-year deal is better.
Availability and price of replacement parts such as profiles, trowels, etc.
Many companies make a ground preparation machine and other accessories, also. A total equipment package will save money.
Look for a company that offers a complete training program with ongoing support.
Some companies offer a turnkey business system with use of a well-established trademark, marketing programs and corporate website. This is a preferred way to quickly enter and master the market!

How do I create the product?
Basically, laying continuous concrete edging is a simple step by step process:

First the ground is prepared by removing turf from the edge line and/or smoothing the ground surface.
After the concrete is mixed, the concrete curbing is layed by the self-propelled curbing machine, while the operator steers and loads concrete into the machine
Afterwards, the concrete curbing is troweled and edges are finished for a very attractive look.
Some curbing professionals can offer colors and a stamped finish for an even more impressive appearance.

Most jobs can be completed in 1 to 2 days and are paid for upon completion.

The finished product is an attractive landscape border that prevents weed overgrowth, retains soil and mulch and adds to the beauty and enjoyment of any residential or commercial landscaping and often the curbing will enhance the property value.

With material and labor costs around 20% on average, the profits in this business are amazing. It's not uncommon for a contractor to earn $1000 in a day. That's why so many are entering this lucrative industry!
